Bath Time for Bossie©

Psalm 51:7 "Wash me and I shall be whiter han snow."

The weather report came as a surprise to all of us.. snow was heading to South Texas forecasted for Christmas Day! What a blessing to a girl from the north. I missed the snow so much. Our neighbors were all excited, too. They had never seen snow before. Everyone was gathering blankets, heaters and plenty of hot chocolate.
However, with the report came a warning to bring all pets inside. "Pets will certainly freeze in this cold weather."

"Ooh!" I cringed at the thought of bringing in our dog. First of all, she was almost the size of a horse and secondly, she had fleas! No matter how many times we bathed her, she would do what outdoor dogs do.. roll in the dirt and accumulate more fleas!

I brought her in and took one look at her before giving her the verdict. "If you want to stay inside this house and keep warm during the cold spell.. you're going to get a bath!" I stated as I pointed to the tub down the hall. The water was already waiting, as were the towels and shampoo. It was almost as though she shook her head "no" to let me know that she didn't have any fleas, but we made it back to the tub anyway. I had to literally lift this big thing and place her into the tub!

Oh, the fleas were diving off her back and swimming all around. She got washed twice before we left that room. The water was almost black from the dirt and grime. (and she thought she was ok!)

She enjoyed the low heat from the blow dryer and the brushing more than the bath. After all the grooming was finished, I placed a bandana around her neck and Ralph inspected her from head to toe.

"OK" he said. "Now you're clean. You can stay inside and keep warm."

That night she kept nice and warm laying by the fireplace and the next morning there awaited a wonderful Christmas surprise. It did snow and the ground was covered!
The neighbor children were outside building their first snowman and squealing with delight. What a special Christmas!

This true story reminds me of another bath.. one that each person needs before going to Heaven. We cannot enter in without this bath, not because of fleas, but because of our sins. The following verses from the Bible tells us of our condition and how to get cleaned up.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned.."
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that HE gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in HIm should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Psalm 51:7 "Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."

We can be washed clean from all our sins if we believe on the finished work that Jesus did on the cross. It was for us, not for any sin that He commented.

Acts 16:31 "..Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of The Lord shall be saved."
Just as Bossie submitted to a bath and afterwards enjoyed a safe, warm place away from the storm, you will be accepted into Heaven, the safehaven, when you place your trust in Jesus Christ. The free gift of salvation is yours and the decision is yours.
Joshua 24:15
"..choose you this day whom ye will serve.."
